2018 Season
Aug 8 - Aug 25
After a summer of training for many and a quick few weeks (which included an amazing 12 hour overnight fundraiser) of training for newcomers out for the team, the lady Bulldogs finally had their first meet. The Trial on the Trail Invite at Elmwood Park High School. It was a great first meet. It allowed the athletes a chance to see what kind of shape they are in at the beginning of this 2018 cross country season. A two mile race circling the perimeter of the Elmwood Park High School campus 2 times. I would say the outcome was pretty good, if not great. The Junior/Senior race was first and senior Tara Janney was the individual champion for the second year in a row while leading the girls team to a team championship. Four of our runners placed in the top ten: Nadia Kaczmarz(3rd place), Niela Callanan(8th place), Cora Lutes(9th place). Here the other seniors & juniors on the team this year: seniors... Melissa Oliveira Liz, Jessica Mancione, Sylvia Harvin, Izzy Rurka, Marissa Drake, Natalia Valenzuela and the juniors, Selena Axinte, Jacqueline DiMonte, Emma Fortman, Sophie Jebb, Angela Prybylski and Fiona Satterfield. The sophomores & freshman runners ran an hour later. It was a tough field to compete against and it showed with a freshman from Latin having the best time of the day for all girl runners. Our team ran a very respectable race with some of our sophomores taking getting a taste of how a cross country race is run, coming in fourth in the race. Not a bad start. Here are the sophomore and freshman making up this years amazing Cross Country team: Sofia Arcos, Kimberly Arroyo, Lena Brockway, Grace Faje, Viktoria Hanson, Khristy Jimenez, Frida Kraus, Zoe Mazurkiewicz, Angelina Ocampo, Samantha Perez, Kate Schulte, Emma Brassil, Riley, Gagne, and Molly Raymond. Looks like it's going to be a great year.
Next up LT Invite on Sept 1, see you then. More info about the team at rbxc.weebly.com

Top Ten Jr/Sr Girls at EP Invite: (Left to Right RBXC) Cora, Niela, Nadia & Tara
Aug 26 - Sept 29
A lot has happened since Aug 25. A cancelled meet due to weather, Mono, injuries and some fantastic performances. Athletes are getting stronger and faster every week. The team came in 3rd at our home RB Invite at Sundown Meadows, ran in several competitive invites at Peoria, Harvest Christian, and St Charles North. Those meets really allowed the runners to work toward improving their pacing skills and become better runners as the season progresses. We are looking forward to a difficult Conference meet on Oct 13. Before that there is plenty of training and the annual Chicago Marathon Volunteering opportunity on Oct 7, 2018.
